Happy 2020!
In the spirit of cleaning up your act for the new year, I went on another hunt for healthy desserts. I’ve developed quit the sweet tooth in my adult years and I prefer chocolate, so anything of that nature please. I recently found a healthy chocolate cake recipe that looks so good but we can talk about that later (after I try it).
I found this recipe and thought it might be a good one to give a try. It’s incredibly easy as long as you have chia seeds and cocoa powder laying around (which I seem to always have).
Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, 1tsp of vanilla extract, 1 cup of dairy free milk (I used silk almond), and 1/4 cup of chia seeds. Mix your potion together, let it sit for 4hrs - overnight, and voila! It’s a pretty decent fix if you’re craving anything sweet. But I will say that I added a healthy second pour of organic maple syrup because it just wasn’t sweet enough for me. Using maple syrup as a sweetener in desserts is new for me but I really loved it. I found it really interesting because as sweet as syrup is, it just disappears into the recipe.
I love the fresh raspberries on top! I’m also interested in trying non dairy whipped cream too! (oh as pictured, I also added some semi sweet chocolate chips I had in the freezer, couldn’t help myself!)
