Ackee and saltfish is one of my favorite meals (especially with fried bake or dumpling, yum). It’s traditionally eaten for breakfast in Trinidad & Tobago. I grew up with my grandmother making it for breakfast sometimes at my parents house and Ryan and I loved having it every morning by the ocean when we went to Trinidad & Tobago for Christmas vacation a few years back.
The difficult thing is we found it difficult to find ackee and sailfish out here in California. So I called Grandma and asked where I can find it and she said it’s usually available at an African market if you can find one. But wouldn’t you know it, Grandma came in clutch and surprised me with a box of sailfish and a can of Ackee in the mail a few days later!
